Gal Ron is a Ph.D. candidate at the the Political Science Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her research explores how emotions are employed for achieving different aims in the political and social spheres. In this context, part of her dissertation examines the expression and diffusion of antisemitic and Islamophobic speech on social media. It specifically focuses on the effects that counter-hate statements exert on users’ engagement with such hateful content, and the ensuing impact on its propagation.
