ANNOUNCE

The Knapp Family Foundation Post-Doctoral / Junior Faculty Fellowship (2026–2027)

The Fellowships are intended for outstanding scholars from Israel and abroad who demonstrate exceptional excellence, depth, and originality in their academic work. The Fellowship supports research on antisemitism, racism, discrimination, and different forms of persecution, including both historical and contemporary cases of large-scale collective violence and mass atrocities. It welcomes projects from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law, with particular interest in innovative approaches in digital humanities, gender history, and the history of emotions.

Beginning October 1, 2026, fellows are expected to be present at the Institute for no fewer than three days per week and to participate actively in the academic activities of the Institute and its Research Centers. An extension for one additional year may be granted, contingent upon substantial progress in the research and subject to approval by the SICSA Committee.

The Fellowship offers an annual stipend of 30,000 USD*

Qualified candidates must have completed their PhD no earlier than October 1, 2021. Candidates who have not yet graduated may apply; their acceptance will be conditional upon approval of their degree by October 1, 2026.

Last date to submit applications is May 31, 2026.

Submissions should include: statement of research plan (2 pages, with title); curriculum vitae and list of publications; a summary of the PhD (up to 2 pages); two recommendation letters (including one from the applicant’s dissertation advisor and one from a Hebrew University faculty member willing to serve as the applicant’s sponsor); PhD degree certificate; and complete contact information.
