Research Seminar- French Thought and the Jews: From the Aftermath of the War to Current Challenges

On Monday, 23rd of April, SICSA  held a research seminar titled: French Thought and the Jews: From the Aftermath of the War to Current Challenges.

The event was chaird by Bar-Ilan University's Prof. Ilan Greilsammer, and featured a lecture by the center's Visiting Scholar Fellow, Prof. Bruno Chaouat.

French Thought and the Jews1

Jews, real or imagined, have been at the core of French thought and literature from the post-war to the present. The resurgence of antisemitism in the third millenium has created the need to articulate theoretical and philosophical responses. Is French thought (literary theory, postmodernism, deconstruction) still relevant to engage with the so-called new antisemitism? Prof. Chaouat traced the trajectory of post-war French thought and proposed new concepts and new analyses to respond to new challenges in contemporary France and Europe.
